Emergency phone systems are everywhere. You’ll see them in elevators, along walking paths, in parking lots, and many other applications. Also known as “Red Phones”, these solutions are an extremely important—and often required—security layer in many facilities and “areas of refuge”. This ensures that in the event of an emergency, assistance is only one button push away.
Today we’re showcasing Viking Electronics’ VoIP emergency phone systems for accessible and reliable emergency assistance. Their 1600-IP Series Emergency Phones are designed to provide quick and reliable handsfree communication for SIP VoIP phone systems with PoE.
In case of an emergency, when the “Push for Help” button is pressed, the 1600-IP Series phone dials a preprogrammed telephone number. The phone will cycle through up to 5 emergency numbers until the call is answered. When first responders receive the call, they immediately know the phone’s precise location to quickly assess the situation, call-up specific cameras and respond accordingly.

All 1600-IP Series phones meet ADA requirements for elevator and emergency telephones. In addition, several models feature a second “INFO” button that will dial up to 5 non-emergency numbers (for a person needing directions, for example). Phones are available in red, black, yellow, blue, or stainless-steel finish. Mounting options include surface, recess, or flush mount to walls; posts; towers; and single or double gang boxes. For outdoor installations where the unit is exposed to precipitation or condensation, models with Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP) are recommended.
