We are proud to announce that EAS recently became a certified participant in the Small Business Administration’s Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program.
The HUBZone program fuels small business growth in these zones, awarding at least 3% of federal contract dollars to certified companies each year. To be eligible for the certification, an organization must be a small business (according to SBA standards), be owned and controlled at least 51% by U.S. citizens (or a Community Development Corporation, an agricultural cooperative or an Indian tribe), be located within a “Historically Underutilized Business Zone” and at least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone.
“The team at EAS is excited to have been granted the HUBZone certification from SBA. This will allow us to continue providing physical & electronic security and IT infrastructure solutions to our clients and to be able to positively impact our community and local economy.”
HUBZone companies are well-connected within the community, creating jobs and supporting the local economy. They can also take advantage of specialized business training, counseling, marketing assistance and high-level executive development, provided by the SBA and its resource partners. This extensive knowledge and access to new tools are translated into excellent service and new opportunities for our clients. “The team at EAS is excited to have been granted the HUBZone certification from SBA. This will allow us to continue providing physical & electronic security and IT infrastructure solutions to our clients and to be able to positively impact our community and local economy,” expressed Pedro J. Bonnin, EAS Founder & CEO.
Since 1995, EAS has met the needs of hundreds of amazing clients—and a vast list of federal government agencies—providing tailored solutions for physical & electronic security, data security and data transmission. Our staff also enjoys a higher level of clearance than it is customary in Puerto Rico, as we are authorized to work under stricter frameworks and environments with our numerous federal government credentials. (Read our post on why credentials matter.) Bonnin states, “Our specialization in highly-regulated industries sometimes makes it difficult for other companies in our field to compete. We’re actually quite proud of the level of security we uphold internally and our extensive credentials.”
